  • In the Startup Type drop-down list, select the Automatic option.

METHOD 2: MAKE CHANGES THROUGH COMMAND PROMPT

  • Click the Windows icon located at the bottom left corner of the desktop screen.
  • Type Command prompt in the search bar and press the Enter button.
  • Right-click on the Command prompt and select the option Run as Administrator.
  • You will now have to stop certain services and restart them again.
  • To stop the services, type the following commands in Command Prompt. 
  • Enter net stop wuauserv and press the Enter button.
  • Enter net stop cryptSvc and press the Enter button.
  • Enter net stop bits and press the Enter button.
  • Enter net stop bits and press the Enter button.
  • Enter ren C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.old and press the Enter button.
  • Type ren C:\Windows\System32\catroot2 catroot2.old and press the Enter button.
  • Now you have to restart the stopped services.
  • Enter net start wuauserv and press the Enter button.
  • Enter net start cryptSvc and press the Enter button.
  • Enter net start bits and press the Enter button.
  • Enter net start msiserver and press the Enter button.
  • Close the Command prompt and restart the Windows 10 computer. 
  • You will no longer face the status pending install Windows 10 message while updating Windows.
