  • Give a right-click on the selected files and select Delete.
  • Now, open the Services window and start Windows Update as well as Background Intelligent Transfer Services.

  • On your Windows desktop, click the Windows icon and type “cmd” in the search box.
  • Give a right-click the Command Prompt icon and select Run as administrator.
  • If the User Access Control(UAC) window pops-up, click the Yes button.
  • In the Command Prompt window, enter the command “net stop wuauserv” and press Enter.
  • Type “net stop cryptSvc” in the Command Prompt window and hit the Enter key.
  • Type the command “net stop bits” and press Enter.
  • Enter the command “net stop msiserver” and press the Enter key.
  • Type the “ren C: WindowsSoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.Old” command and press the Enter button.
  • Enter “ren C:WindowsSystem32catroot2 catroot2.old” and press Enter.
  • Type the command “net start wuauserv” in the Command Prompt window and press the Return key.
  • Type the “net start cryptSvc” command and press Enter.
  • Enter “net start bits” in the Command Prompt window and press the Return key.
  • Type the “net start msiserver” command and press Enter.
  • Type the command “pause” and press Enter.
  • Type “Exit” press Enter to exit the Command Prompt window.
  • Now, restart your computer for updating Windows OS.
